SAMĀ CELLARS is a boutique Washington winery dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary character of Washington State’s vineyards through limited-production, Rhône-inspired wines. Founded in 2023 with its inaugural 2022 vintage, we are proud to be among the few Indian and immigrant-owned wineries in the United States, bringing a distinctive global perspective while celebrating the people, vineyards, and terroir that make Washington one of the world’s great wine regions.
Samā, the Sanskrit word for balance and harmony, defines our philosophy. We believe exceptional wines are born from the interplay of nature and craftsmanship, science and intuition, and tradition and innovation. Every bottle is a thoughtful expression of vineyard, vintage, and varietal, crafted with authenticity, precision, and restraint.
Our story begins in the vineyard. We partner with family-owned, sustainably farmed, and iconic vineyard sites across Washington State, building enduring relationships with growers who share our commitment to stewardship and quality. Produced in small lots, each wine captures the purity, balance, and remarkable diversity of Washington terroir.

Chaitanya Bangur (Chaz)
OWNER & WINEMAKER
Originally from India, Chaitanya “Chaz” Bangur found his calling in Washington wine after making Seattle his home more than two decades ago. Drawn to the region’s extraordinary vineyards and pioneering spirit, he discovered in winemaking a rare convergence of science, creativity, and craftsmanship.
Before founding SAMĀ CELLARS, Chaz built a career at the intersection of innovation and discovery, developing cancer therapies in biotechnology and leading product incubation in the high-tech industry. With a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, an MBA, and formal winemaking training at the Northwest Wine Academy, he brings a distinctive perspective to every vintage, combining analytical rigor with artistic intuition.
Chaz believes the winemaker’s role is not to impose a style, but to reveal the character of the vineyard. Guided by a philosophy of thoughtful observation rather than intervention, he crafts wines that are balanced, expressive, and true to their place. Every decision from fermentation and blending to barrel aging is made with intention, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak with clarity.
At the heart of Samā is a belief that wine is more than something we drink, it is a catalyst for connection. Chaz sees every bottle as an opportunity to bring people together, celebrate diverse cultures, and create lasting memories around the table. That spirit of balance, harmony, and hospitality continues to shape both the wines and the community that surrounds them.
