2022 Rāga Syrah

The 2022 Rāga Syrah showcases the typicity of the varietal expression from one of the most iconic vineyards in Washington. It opens with a captivating berry nose, leading to a palate rich with ripe red fruit, blackberries, and plum. Subtle spice nuances enhance its complexity, while the absence of noticeable oak allows the fruit to shine. This Syrah, typical of Boushey Vineyard, exhibits a refined structure with vibrant acidity and well-integrated tannins. Hints of black pepper and a touch of violet add depth. Silky and round, it offers a beautifully balanced profile with a full mouthfeel and a long, satisfying finish.

This Syrah will pair beautifully with hearty dishes like grilled lamb, barbecued ribs, smoky gouda cheese, or with Indian dishes like lamb vindaloo or kebabs. The wine's rich, velvety texture and balanced acidity complement the intense spices, enhancing the savory and smoky elements of the cuisine while offering a smooth, satisfying finish.

Tasting Notes
If this Syrah is any indication, Samā Cellars is a new winery to keep an eye on. I love the wine's aromas of cool cellar floor dirt and brambleberries growing wild at the edge of a pine forest. Fine, grainy tannins then offer ample support for rich blackcap raspberry, baking spice and dark chocolate flavors. — Michael Alberty (Wine Enthusiast)
Ratings
Owen Bargreen (92 Points) - Coming from the Yakima Valley AVA, the 2022 ‘Raga’ saw 25% whole cluster fermentation and was stored in neutral oak for 18 months before bottling. Juicy blackberry and black currants mingle well with good freshness and salty minerals on the palate. Drink 2024-2032
